The Bee Tree Cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and comfortably appointed for two people. It is supplied with electricity for a fridge, lights, and a radio. For cooking purposes, there is a two-plate electrical stove installed, and hot water is provided from a solar geyser. The bathroom features a basin, a shower with hot and cold running water, and a flushing toilet connected to a septic tank. Linens, towels, and soap are provided.
During the winter months or cool summer nights, the cottage offers a touch of yesteryear with a Welcome Dover stove that burns coal and wood, heating up the cottage quickly. The stove is also suitable for cooking. For warmer days and nights, a cold water bush shower, big enough for two people, is available for cooling down. Guests can enjoy a braai (barbecue) and tranquil sunsets, or gaze out over the pond that is visible from the cottage.
The pond attracts small buck and numerous bird species, which can be viewed comfortably from the verandah. The cottage is located in the transition region between broad-leaved woodland and Highveld grasslands, with nearby habitats including koppies (small hills), rocky slopes, gorges, rivers, dams, wetlands, and farmlands. Easy access to the Moloto, Rust De Winter, Wilge River, and Verena areas is provided from the cottage.
Bee Tree Farm has been listed as one of the top bird viewing destinations in the Chamberlains top 101 in Gauteng, with 268 bird species sighted in the vicinity. Striped kingfishers breed in the garden of Bee Tree Farm, and pearl breasted swallows and tinkling cisticolas have recently been spotted. Protea Kaffra, which attracts birds, grows abundantly on the farm.
The Bee Tree Safari Boma Cabins offer family accommodation, providing an opportunity to spend quality time with children away from electronic devices. Activities include having discussions around a fire, roasting marshmallows, sharing childhood stories, stargazing, cycling, game viewing on the main road, and playing ball games. To protect the haven for bird watchers, loud music is not allowed. Guests are encouraged to relax with a blanket, enjoy a book, and wander around the 23-hectare farm. Privacy is provided for two people only, and guests are required to supply their own wood.
The cottage also arranges various activities with pick-up from Bee Tree, including game drives, gorge gliding, abseiling, horseback safaris, quad biking, lion encounters, mountain biking, hot air ballooning, and microlight flights.
