Bucklands Guest Farm

Bucklands Guest Farm is located outside the town of Steytlerville in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It offers accommodation options for guests seeking a tranquil and nature-focused getaway. The farm caters to various preferences, ranging from cozy cottages to camping sites and even a cave accommodation.

The Poortjie is a renovated farm worker's cottage suitable for small groups, featuring two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and a patio with views of the surrounding area. The Ouwerwe, initially one of the outbuildings of the original farmstead, is a rustic stone house with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, making it an ideal choice for larger groups. This house offers a peaceful retreat without power or cellphone reception, allowing guests to enjoy a braai on the patio or relax by the fireplace on chilly winter nights.

For adventurous guests seeking an even closer connection with nature, the farm offers guided walks over rough terrain leading to The Blougat Cave. Here, visitors can experience sleeping in an authentic cave while being immersed in the sounds of nature. Activities available on the farm include fishing, exploring bushman paintings, and hiking, with possible sightings of wildlife such as fish eagles or leopards.

The farm also provides shaded campsites situated near the river, where guests can engage in swimming, fishing, and exploring the premises. Bucklands Guest Farm is conveniently located not too far from the warm coast of Port Elizabeth, the Baviaans Mega Reserve, and the Addo Elephant National Park. Camping facilities are not provided, and guests are required to bring their own camping equipment. Campers have access to 4x4 trails, a 4x4 playground, and are permitted to self-drive anywhere on the farm.
