Forty Winks

Forty Winks Farm Stays is nestled within Colsport Farm in the Kamberg Valley of the Natal Midlands, offering luxury self-catering accommodation across three distinct cottages. The 143-hectare working farm is situated 9 kilometers from Rosetta on a tar road, providing easy access to the Midlands Meander route and nearby nature reserves including Kamberg, Highmoor, and Giants Castle.

The property features two semi-detached cottages (1 and 2) that can be rented separately, each accommodating four guests, or combined to host eight people. These cottages are equipped with two bedrooms, a full family bathroom, an additional toilet, and an open-plan living area featuring a fireplace and underfloor heating. The modern kitchens include all necessary appliances, including dishwashers. Each cottage has its own driveway and entrance, with a full-length veranda overlooking two trout dams and the central Drakensberg Mountains.

The standalone Honeymoon cottage offers an intimate retreat for two, featuring an open-plan bedroom/lounge area, separate bathroom with underfloor heating and heated towel rail, and a sun room. The cottage is distinguished by its glass-sided slow combustion stove and king-size bed with lace curtains, providing a romantic atmosphere with panoramic views of the Giants Castle area.

The farm offers catch-and-release fly fishing in its trout dams (closed from December 1 to February 28), and guests can observe free-roaming game including blesbok, zebra, black wildebeest, red hartebeest, oribi, and jackal. A high-clearance or 4x4 vehicle is required to access the dams. Due to the presence of protective zebras, pets are not permitted on the property. The establishment combines farm stay and safari experiences, with various domestic animals and wildlife visible from the cottages.

Each accommodation is equipped with modern amenities including flat-screen TVs with limited DSTV channels, free WiFi, and braai facilities. The property maintains guest privacy by not accepting day visitors, ensuring exclusive use of the facilities for staying guests.
