The Historic Pig And Whistle Inn is a 189-year-old pub, restaurant, and hotel located in the historic town of Bathurst, South Africa. It is believed to be the oldest continuously operating pub in the country and is recognized as a Heritage site.
The inn has 10 beautifully restored rooms, blending historic ambiance with modern facilities. There are four en-suite rooms and six traditional rooms with communal bathrooms. The en-suite rooms are furnished with antiques and percale linen, and each room can accommodate an extra single bed for a child or third adult.
Owned by Lucille and Gavin Came, the Pig & Whistle Inn is renowned for its food and Old World charm. Generations of visitors, dating back to Lord Charles Somerset, have had the opportunity to have a drink at the establishment, colloquially referred to as "having a swig at the Pig".
The inn is able to cater for weddings with up to 80 guests by arrangement, with nearby historic churches available to host the ceremony.
