Mtati River Lodge is a self-catering wooden unit that forms part of the small privately owned Mtati Lagoon Resort. It is situated 200 km north east of Port Elizabeth and 100 km south of East London on the Eastern Cape's Sunshine Coast. The development is environmentally sensitive, and great care has been taken to preserve the natural flora.

The chalets are located into the magnificent indigenous coastal forest, offering stunning views of the vast and unspoilt beach and lagoon. The resort provides a unique experience of beauty and tranquility while offering all the facilities for a fun seaside holiday or a welcome short break from a long journey.

Holiday activities include bathing in the lagoon or the sea, river, surf, and rock fishing, canoeing, birding, walking, dune boarding, kiting, shell and oyster collecting, or simply relaxing on the beach or a deck. The resort is 14 km from the famous Gary Player golf course at the Fish River Sun Resort and 43 km from the charming seaside town of Port Alfred, which offers shopping facilities, restaurants, sporting activities, health spas, and river boating.

The delightful historical village of Bathurst features the Pig and Whistle Pub, the oldest in South Africa. Nearby Mpekweni Beach resort offers pub and dining facilities, while the Oceana Wildlife Luxury Resort provides game drives, meals, and a beauty spa. Beach horseback riding is also available nearby, and numerous game parks in the surrounding malaria-free area offer day visits.

Bark's Barracks, a unit within the Mtati River Lodge, can accommodate six adults and one child. It comprises two chalets: the upper chalet with a living area, kitchen, and guest toilet, and the lower chalet with an en-suite double bedroom and a single bed annex. The second structure, Hoopoe, has two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. All units are equipped with outdoor showers, decks, and necessary amenities.
