Otterskloof Private Game Reserve spans 13,800 hectares along the Van Der Kloof Dam, straddling the border of the Free State and Northern Cape provinces. The reserve features dramatic Karoo landscape and a distinctive river ecosystem that supports breeding pairs of Cape clawless otters.
The 4-star Safari Lodge, positioned 30 kilometers from Phillipolis via a gravel road, consists of a converted farmhouse and a main entertainment area known as the Lapa. The accommodation includes 13 well-appointed rooms: two large double rooms and 11 twin rooms, all with separate entrances and en-suite bathrooms. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, a safe, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries, and tea/coffee facilities. One room features a built-in fireplace, while two rooms offer bathtubs. Daily room service and laundry facilities are available.
The reserve is owned and operated by Abel and Karen Erasmus, renowned conservationists and rare game breeders. Abel brings over 26 years of respected breeding experience to the operation. Guests can explore the reserve's 102km of roads using their own high-clearance or 4x4 vehicles, participate in guided game drives, or enjoy fishing activities with their own equipment. The lodge serves as the primary base for all reserve activities and offers sweeping views of the Karoo landscape.
