Perched on the ridge overlooking Walker Bay, this luxury guest house offers a tranquil retreat with panoramic views of Hermanus and the Cape mountains. The elevated position creates a peaceful atmosphere while remaining conveniently close to town - just a 10-minute walk or 1-minute drive from the center.

Accommodations with Character

The property features four individually decorated luxury suites, each with private sea-facing decks and spectacular views. Three suites - the Aloe, Rockpool, and Botanical - include private wood-fired KolKol hot tubs, perfect for sunset relaxation with a glass of Cape wine. The suites are spacious (some up to 70sqm) with high-end finishes throughout.

Each suite offers different advantages:

  • The Aloe Suite: Features full-length stack-away doors, a log fireplace, outdoor braai area, and kitchenette
  • The Rockpool Suite: Includes a wrap-around deck, covered braai area, and potbelly fireplace
  • The Botanical Suite: Filled with beautiful plants, can be configured as either king or twin beds
  • The Bay Suite: Features a bay window bath with spectacular views over Walker Bay

Practical Considerations

The property runs on a full solar system, meaning guests are unaffected by load shedding (power outages) - the only difference being that when town lights go out, stargazing from the hot tubs becomes even more spectacular.

Breakfast is included in room rates and focuses on quality local ingredients with daily variations - the eggs royale comes highly recommended. For self-catering options, some suites include kitchenettes and private braai facilities.

Location Benefits

The position offers the best of both worlds - proximity to town amenities while being surrounded by fynbos vegetation. The property backs onto Fernkloof Nature Reserve, with hiking and mountain bike trails directly accessible across the road.

For whale watching (Hermanus's main attraction from June to November), the famous Cliff Path is just a 10-minute walk away. The owners can assist with recommendations for best viewing spots and times based on current whale activity.

Local Insights

The hosts have extensive local knowledge and can arrange experiences beyond the standard tourist offerings. They're connected with local taxi services, including the charming Tuk-tuk Taxi for short trips around town, and can book secret tables at the area's best restaurants and wine farms.

For those interested in local flora, the gardens showcase indigenous fynbos plants, and guests often spot guinea fowl, owls, sunbirds and occasionally the resident mongoose.

A thoughtful touch: visit during summer months and morning breakfasts can be served on your private deck to start the day with those magnificent ocean views.
