Salty Waters B&B

Salty Waters B&B is located in Delareyville, where the summer in the North West is characterized by relentless sun, alleviated only by torrential rain, making it somewhat of an endurance test. The establishment offers 10 rooms with double beds and en-suite bathrooms. The rooms are equipped with amenities such as a bar fridge, DStv, air-conditioning, a coffee maker, desk, an ironing board, and are designated as non-smoking environments. The B&B provides services such as laundry and dry cleaning, wheelchair access, and secure parking.

Barberspan Bird Sanctuary is regarded as one of the largest waterfowl sanctuaries in Southern Africa. It features a vast 2000-hectare body of water that is accredited by the RAMSAR Convention, indicating its international importance for migratory birds and waterfowl. This sanctuary is situated on the outskirts of Delareyville, near Vryburg on the N14 highway, and is approximately a three-hour drive from Johannesburg.

Barberspan is the largest of a series of pans that lie in the fossil bed of the Harts River. The pan itself measures approximately 600 meters wide and 1,550 meters in length, and lies within the Barberspan Bird Sanctuary. Over 12,000 birds and 365 bird species have been recorded here, making it an extremely popular destination for birders. The sanctuary is home to various species, including flamingos, pelicans, grebes, terns, herons, cranes, ibis, bitterns, and all but one of the South African duck species.

Barberspan Bird Sanctuary is also popular with anglers, hosting several regional and national angling competitions. Visitors are allowed to camp along the angling shoreline, and there are walking trails available. The Barberspan Bird Sanctuary is open daily from 06:00 to 18:00 and is well signposted from the N14, which links the small towns of Delareyville and Sannieshof.
