The Saxon is an exclusive international award-winning Boutique Hotel and Spa located in the tranquil suburb of Sandhurst, Johannesburg. It was originally designed in 1990 by Neil Powell architects as a private residence for Douw Steyn, one of South Africa's leading industrialists, before being transformed into a luxury conference venue. The hotel epitomizes tasteful African elegance and offers personalized attention to detail.

Situated on six acres of landscaped gardens, the Saxon provides a lush haven of peace and tranquility, removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. It features twenty-four suites of various sizes, incorporating African art and latticed shutters covering large bay windows overlooking the gardens or pool area. Each suite features large screen televisions, DVD players, and surround sound systems, as well as workstations with telephone, fax, and ISDN lines.

The hotel offers four presidential suites, each with a separate lounge and dining area. The Mandela platinum suites are furnished to cater for the most discerning travelers. All suites are stylishly decorated in African tones, with seating areas, working desks, fax and modem facilities, and video conference lines. They are equipped with 91cm TVs, DVD players, and music systems, as well as open-plan bathrooms with American-style shutters. One of the suites is a twin Paraplegic Suite.
