The Shimuwini Bushveld Camp is a camp located in the Northern Region of the Kruger National Park, a South African National Park (SANPark). It is named after the Shangaan word 'Shimuwini', which means 'Place of the Baobab', as the Letaba River that runs through the area is lined with these huge trees. The western part of the camp is characterized by sparse, isolated hills rich in prehistoric artifacts, while the Lebombo Mountains form a majestic natural boundary to the east.
The camp offers accommodation in units large enough for families, and children aged 6 and over are welcome to join the various game drives offered. Accommodation must be booked for the same night at the camp, and no meals are provided. The rates are subject to the number of adults and children staying, and quotes will include a 1% Community Levy but exclude daily conservation fees, which are to be paid directly to the camp upon arrival.
From September 1, 2017, all visitors over 18 years old will be required to produce their identity document (ID), passport, or alternative valid identification, such as a driver's license card, for scanning upon entering or exiting the Park.
The camp offers safari drives with experienced guides, where visitors can enjoy spotting various animals in the park and learn more about them. Additionally, the camp offers nocturnal activities for visitors to experience the secretive creatures of Kruger at night. These activities are guided by experienced guides, with the sunset drive departing at 17:00 and lasting at least 3 hours. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted to participate in these activities for their own safety.
