Sothemba Lodge is situated a distance of 83km from Ceres, on a world-renowned bird-finder route. It serves as an ideal base to explore the Tankwa Karoo, boasting a wide variety of species such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, dassies, baboons, and ostriches. The lodge features an approximate 400-meter rise between the guest house and upper reaches of the farm, allowing for significant changes in flora, fauna, and bird life.

Accommodation options at Sothemba Lodge include a private suite with a private veranda, cottages, luxury tents, and mini tents, each furnished in a Euro-African style. Since the lodge operates without electricity or municipal services, extensive use is made of sun power, and efforts are made to live as eco-friendly as possible.

Guests at Sothemba Lodge can enjoy a variety of walks, ranging from gentle strolls amidst the date palm plantation, olive groves, and several dams, to energetic and physically testing six-hour hikes in the surrounding gorges. The lodge features a Lapa that provides an opportunity to experience the Karoo's wide magnificence, and an adjacent Boma that allows for private or pre-arranged braais (barbecues).

The lodge has an eco-friendly swimming pool that allows nature to co-exist with the commercial by providing a base home for a myriad of local inhabitants. The water for the pool is fed from underground supplies and is regularly changed without the addition of chemicals, creating a dam-like atmosphere that promotes local flora and fauna.

Both cottages at Sothemba Lodge have two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds and two sleeper couches. Bedding is provided upon request.
