1 Day Death By Chocolate Tour

The 1 Day Death By Chocolate Tour offers an opportunity to sample a variety of chocolates, truffles, and wines at various chocolatiers and wine estates. The tour visits the beautiful towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl. It starts and ends anywhere in Cape Town, as it is a private tour. The tour duration is approximately 8 to 9 hours.

The tour includes visits to the following establishments: Bilton Wines, an estate that has been in the hands of the Bilton family since 1959 and transitioned from fruit, vegetable, and grape farming to winemaking in 1996. Huguenot Chocolates in Franschhoek, a BEE producer of fine handcrafted Belgian chocolates, where visitors can enjoy "The Chocolate Experience" - a half-hour program of tasting, demonstrations, and chocolate history. DV Chocolate in Paarl, one of the few 'Bean to Bar' micro-batch chocolate makers in the world, where a guided tasting of 6 single-origin dark chocolates and 4 flavored chocolates, including at least one milk chocolate, is offered.

The tour also includes a visit to Van Ryn's Distillery, a 5-star distillery over 200 years old, known for award-winning brandies like the Van Ryn's 12-year-old. Visitors can experience South African brandies paired with various chocolates and an espresso.

Highlights of the tour include chocolate tastings in Paarl, Franschhoek, and Stellenbosch, a guided tasting of 8 different chocolates at DV Chocolate, the Ultimate Chocolate Experience and Tasting at Huguenot Chocolates, a chocolate and wine tasting at Bilton Wines, and lunch booked at Vrede en Lust Wine Estate (not included in the tour price).

The tour includes the services of a registered guide, land transportation in air-conditioned vehicles, pickups and drop-offs, tourism levy, all activities and entrance fees as per the itinerary, and all chocolate/wine tastings/pairings. Excluded items are activities not specifically mentioned in the itinerary, gratuities, drinks, lunch, personal and medical insurance, and personal expenses.
