1 Day Franschhoek Foodie & Wine Tour

Vierlanden, Cape Town, Western Cape
from
R 3,700
Per person for 1 night

The tour provides an opportunity to explore the renowned Franschhoek Valley, located between towering mountains in the beautiful Cape Winelands. Franschhoek is considered the food and wine heartland of South Africa, where exceptional wines are produced and top chefs create international cuisine. The tour offers a combination of breathtaking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, and the finest wines, creating lasting memories.

The day begins with a visit to the world-renowned Babylonstoren Wine Estate, where visitors can explore the magical 3.5-hectare (8-acre) cultivated fruit and vegetable garden. The garden draws inspiration from the historic Company's Garden in Cape Town, which supplied sailing ships of the Dutch East India Company with fresh produce during the time when the Cape was a stopover point between Europe and Asia. It also connects to the mythological hanging gardens of Babylon, believed to have been created by Nebuchadnezzar in the sixth century BC for his wife who longed for the mountains and valleys of her youth.

The next stop is Mu221au00a5reson Wine Estate, where participants can experience the Charcuterie and Wine Tasting, a unique twist on traditional wine tastings. Visitors can relax at the Farm Grocer bar counter while sampling a range of Mu221au00a5reson Wines, each individually paired with Neil Jewell's homemade, mouthwatering charcuterie.

The tour continues to the historic Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate (Est. 1694), where guests can enjoy a wine and food pairing (2 white wines, 2 red wines, and 4 canapu221au00a9s) in the owner's private gallery. During the winter months, the tasting takes place near a crackling fireplace, while in summer, visitors can savor the flavors in the air-conditioned tasting room with views of the majestic mountains.

Next, participants will experience a pairing of various Pinotage wines with South African delicacies. Lunch will be booked at either one of the wine farms or a local restaurant in Franschhoek.

The final stop is at Vrede & Lust Wine Estate, a family-owned and managed wine estate located at the foothills of the Simonsberg in Franschhoek's celebrated wine valley. Here, guests will taste five different wines in serene surroundings.

The tour starts and ends anywhere in Cape Town, as it is a private tour. The tour duration is approximately 8 to 9 hours.
