The WWF (World Wildlife Fund) has recognized Hermanus as one of the 12 best whale watching destinations in the world. The best time for whale watching in Hermanus is between July and November. Whales can be observed from the beach, the famous cliff path, by boat, or from the air via a scenic flight. The 12km cliff path stretches from one end of Hermanus to the other and offers some of the best whale watching viewpoints in the world, with whales sometimes seen playing as close as five meters from shore.

Southern Right Whales migrate into the coastal waters around the Cape each year, arriving between July and November. The 1 Day Whale & Wine Adventure tour takes participants along a coastal route to the town of Hermanus, which is regarded as one of the world's best land-based whale watching sites. These unique creatures visit the warmer waters along the South African coast each year to calve and mate.

The tour journey also takes in several seaside towns and mountain passes. The coastal beauty is unsurpassed along the route, allowing participants to experience what lies beyond the city. The seascapes remain spectacular at every turn, including a visit to the Botanical Gardens at Betty's Bay before arriving in Hermanus. A lunch stop is made at Bientang's Cave, one of the most unique restaurants in the world.

After lunch, participants can explore the old harbour with its fascinating Whale and Shark museum, as well as an open market for shopping. The return journey takes the tour through the apple orchards of the Boland (Highland) with spectacular mountain passes. The tour includes a wine tasting that will end the remarkable day with good wine and awesome views. The tour starts and ends anywhere in Cape Town as it is a private tour. The tour duration is approximately 9 hours.
