Adonsonia Lodge is a family-operated Bed & Breakfast situated in the Grietjie Private Nature Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger Park in South Africa. The lodge, originally a farmhouse, has been thoughtfully expanded to include three spacious rooms while maintaining its homely atmosphere. Each room features a private bathroom and separate entrance, accommodating a maximum of six guests to ensure personalized service.
The property offers an authentic bush experience with minimal fencing, allowing guests to observe wildlife up close. Regular visitors include resident Bushbuck, Vervet monkeys, and various bird species, while elephants, giraffes, and other game frequently appear in the nearby dry riverbed and surrounding grasslands. The lodge is located in a Big 5 reserve, with regular elephant sightings around the premises.
Facilities include a shaded thatched porch and lapa for relaxation, a splash pool for cooling off, and a firepit for evening gatherings. Dining is available under the thatched lapa or on the patio beneath the stars. The lodge offers qualified FGASA-guided game drives within the reserve, as well as guided trips to Kruger Park and the Panorama Route.
The accommodation consists of three distinct rooms: Koedoe, the largest and most luxurious room featuring river-rock walls and a shower-only bathroom; Waterbok, a queen-bedded room with a couch area and modern bathroom; and Rooibok, furnished in contemporary African style with two three-quarter beds. Waterbok and Rooibok can be connected to accommodate families.
The lodge is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Kruger Phalaborwa gate, offering packed meals for day trips and guided excursions.
