Africamps At Karoo 1

AfriCamps At Karoo 1 is a boutique glamping camp located in the Hex River Valley, known as the gateway between the Cape and the Great Karoo. It is situated on a farm approximately two hours away from Cape Town. The camp consists of 13 fully furnished glamping tents overlooking the picturesque farm and its unique surrounding rock faces. The tents are spread across the landscape and lead to a stunning natural kloof pool (currently closed for renovations), creating an oasis against the arid Karoo backdrop.

The camp offers opportunities to explore walking trails and mountain biking routes, allowing guests to spot beautiful fauna and flora in a truly unique setting. The AfriCamps boutique glamping experience is designed for families, couples, and close friends to get closer to nature while enjoying modern amenities. The custom-made 55m2 tents accommodate up to five guests and feature a private kitchen, lounge, en-suite bathroom (with private shower and toilet), two bedrooms with extra-length queen-size beds, a fireplace, air-conditioning, and a wooden deck. The camp is pet-friendly, with prior arrangement.

Each tent includes an outdoor wood-fired hot tub or splash pool, an open-plan lounge area with a comfortable couch, a dining area with a solid wooden table and seating for five guests, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms that comfortably sleep five guests, and a bathroom with a hot shower, flushing toilet, and washbasin. The bedrooms have private entrances and one of them contains a single bunk bed. The tents are equipped with air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace, and the spacious wooden decks provide an area for outdoor braai and lounging while taking in the views.

The property offers various activities, including hiking trails, mountain biking trails, swimming in the kloof pool (when reopened), and rock climbing. Additional facilities available on-site include a restaurant, bar, boma, communal swimming pool, kids' play area, and gym. The camp is dog-friendly, allowing all family members to join in the fun. The on-site chapel and wedding venue make this camp a perfect wedding destination.

AfriCamps at Karoo 1 is situated just north of the Hex River Pass between De Doorns and Touws River on the popular Karoo 1 Farm Estate. The surrounding mountain ranges, including the Matroosberg as the highest peak, create majestic views and beautiful rugged landscapes, softened by the first sight of Karoo shrublands. The narrow valley stretches along the N1 from Worcester to Touws River, with De Doorns, South Africa's leading table grape-growing region, at the center. The camp is surrounded by beautiful tapestries of color, especially during the Autumn season.

Visitors can experience the picturesque Karoo landscape through e-bike rentals provided by the camp's brand-new e-Rides e-bike rental service, which is also open to day visitors.
