Alpetra Nature Reserve

Alpetra Nature Reserve is a private game reserve situated in the Waterberg District of the Limpopo Province of South Africa. The reserve allows nature to remain unspoiled, enabling animals to roam freely, birds to sing their songs, mountains to stand majestically, and the breeze to sweep through the trees.

Alpetra Nature Reserve is located between the South-Western fence of Welgevonden Game Reserve and the Southern fence line of Marakele National Park. It offers a selection of accommodation options, including four self-catering chalets at the main lodge, one large private bush lodge, and a lakeside cabin. The accommodations are of a high standard.

The Waterfront Lodge (Main camp) features four self-catering units that can accommodate four to six people, overlooking the dam and mountains. Guests can enjoy the sparkling pool and private or shared braai facilities. The Buffelsfontein Bushlodge is a private and secluded bush lodge, ideal for a group of 12 people, offering luxurious surroundings in harmony with nature, complete with a heated pool and stunning boma. The Lakeside Cabin, tucked away deep in the bush, offers a unique "living on the Wildside" experience, with a thatch roof unit and canvas walls overlooking the dam, where fishing is permitted.

Alpetra Nature Reserve is easily accessible, being just a 2.5-hour drive from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The journey through picturesque country towns like Modimolle and Vaalwater adds to the pleasant experience. The reserve offers guided game drives, bush walks, and opportunities for nature photography and outdoor activities.

The reserve provides a safe haven for families who enjoy nature and the outdoors, with self-catering accommodation suitable for couples, families, and corporate groups. The chalets can accommodate up to six people, while the private self-catering lodge can host up to 12 persons. Alpetra Nature Reserve also offers a unique bush wedding venue for up to 350 guests.
