Amakhosi Safari Lodge

The Amakhosi Safari Lodge is situated in the Northern Zululand region of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is accessible by air charter or road, being a 4.5-hour drive from Johannesburg and a 3.5-hour drive from Durban. The lodge is centrally located, within 2.5 hours' drive from St Lucia, Sodwana, Richard's Bay, and Swaziland.

The lodge offers prime Big 5 game viewing, with an abundance of over 15 species of antelope, hippopotamuses, crocodiles, and over 400 bird species. The main lodge is located along the riverbank of the Mkuze River, with the regal River Suites offering views of the flowing river.

Each suite features a separate air-conditioned bedroom and lounge, fully stocked mini-bar, and tea and coffee making facilities. The suites have high thatched ceilings, glass walls, and an en-suite bathroom with a two-person bath, candles, and bath salts, creating a luxurious and tranquil atmosphere.

The Amakhosi River Spa includes two treatment rooms, Africology range products, a snack bar, fully equipped gym, tranquility area, adults-only infinity pool, sun garden, showers, and change rooms. The lodge offers early morning and late afternoon game drive safaris for observing the Big 5, as well as walking safaris, which combine bush walking and game viewing. Seasonal frogging safaris are available from November to February.

Children under the age of 12 are welcome to stay in the two River Suites when sharing with adults. However, children under the age of 8 are not allowed on game vehicles unless a private vehicle is pre-booked at an additional cost. The Honeymoon Suites do not accommodate children.
