Amohela ho Spitskop is a 420-acre private Country Retreat & Conservancy located in the Eastern Free State Highlands of South Africa, situated between the rural farming villages of Ficksburg and Clocolan. The property offers stunning views of the Maluti Mountains in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho to the southeast.
The retreat has maintained a 20-year commitment to environmental conservation, implementing a no-poison, no-spray, and no-chemical fertilizer policy. This dedication to natural preservation has resulted in the proliferation of wild and native healing plants, supporting local bee and butterfly populations while promoting carbon sequestration.
The accommodation options include three EarthStone self-catering cottages, which are family-oriented with open-plan living spaces. These cottages feature fully equipped kitchens, comfortable living areas, open fireplaces, and covered verandas with weber braais. Daily servicing and free WiFi at reception are provided, along with secure parking.
Two SkyWind self-catering cottages, designed for couples, offer luxurious privacy in hand-hewn sandstone structures. These barn-style buildings feature high-beamed ceilings, lime-washed interiors, and fully equipped kitchens. Additionally, two en-suite freestanding sandstone bedrooms provide catered accommodation options, complete with premium bedding and combustion fires.
The retreat experiences warm summers perfect for barbecues and swimming in the farm reservoir, while winters offer views of snow-capped mountains and cozy fireplace settings. Guests can enjoy spectacular sunrises accompanied by bird watching, breathtaking sunsets, and star-filled night skies in the peaceful valley setting.
