The original building, constructed in 1908, is a historic sandstone structure with high pressed steel ceilings and wooden floors, retaining a distinct old-world charm. The Anchor Guest Lodge is situated in the Yeoville suburb of Johannesburg, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. Yeoville was proclaimed a suburb in 1890 by Thomas Yeo Sherwell, who hailed from Yeovil in the United Kingdom. The area was initially advertised as a 'sanitarium for the rich,' promising cleaner air due to its elevated location overlooking the mining town that had emerged from the Transvaal bushveld.

All guest rooms at the Anchor Guest Lodge feature en-suite bathrooms and are equipped with flat-screen TVs, electric blankets, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Guests can enjoy either a continental or full breakfast, freshly prepared each morning. The lodge offers CCTV security equipment, a fully functional kitchen, and laundry services on demand.
