Avoca River Cabins

Avoca River Cabins, located in the beautiful citrus and rose growing area of the Sundays River Valley, 25 minutes away from the Addo Elephant Park, is a farm owned and operated by Dave and Judy Smith. The name 'Avoca' means 'The meeting of the waters', and the farm offers fully-equipped chalets along the river, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and bird watchers.

In addition to accommodation, Avoca River Cabins also provides professional guided tours to the Addo Elephant Park on their game viewing vehicle. Visitors can inquire about availability and pricing when requesting a booking. The wildlife at the Addo Elephant Park includes, among others, Lions, Rhinos, Elephants, and several Antelope species.

Avoca River Cabins offers various accommodation options, including chalets that can accommodate two to five people, two thatched-roof mud huts with hot showers and toilets located alongside the river, and an abundance of fish and bird life. Scenic walks through the citrus orchards and canoeing on the river are included in the price.

The property also features a lush garden with a path leading down to a bush camp overlooking the river, where two air-conditioned en-suite cabins and a third "honeymoon suite" are privately positioned adjacent. Semi-detached family units and chalets along the river are extremely popular, each with a kitchenette and a hot shower/toilet. The Orchard Room, a dining and breakfast area overlooking the swimming pool and garden, is also available.

Avoca River Cabins features a Riverside function venue overlooking the river, which is ideal for any celebration and offers views of the river and Zuurberg mountain range. Accommodation rates are per unit on the site, and singles and couples are welcome to inquire about better options. Self-catering units are serviced by prior arrangement and at an extra cost. Backpackers are also catered for.

The Orchard Room function hall can accommodate groups of 15 to 60 guests, with toilet facilities, tables, and chairs provided. Catering for small weddings is available upon request. The Wellness Spa is located 15 minutes away from the farm. The Gymnogene chalet, well-situated and set out for honeymooners, is a private riverside chalet where flowers can be placed upon request.

Facilities on the farm include a swimming pool, trampolines, jungle gyms, canoes on the river, short walks among citrus trees, and the opportunity for fishing. The Bush Camp cottage is air-conditioned, constructed from wood, and open-plan, with two units sharing an outdoor Lapa kitchen and communal braai area. Each unit has a private toilet and shower, and bedding and towels are provided.
