Avondrust Guesthouse - Somerset East

The Avondrust Guesthouse is a Victorian-style building located on the corner of Rawson and Louis Trichardt Streets in Somerset East. It is an upmarket 3-star guesthouse situated one block away from Main Street, within walking distance of shops, schools, and restaurants. The guesthouse offers seven rooms with en-suite bathrooms, each equipped with tea and coffee-making facilities, fridges, electric blankets, and fans. Three of the rooms feature air conditioning.

Additionally, the Avondrust Guesthouse has a self-catering Garden Flat that can accommodate four guests. Four of the rooms open onto a large wooden deck overlooking the mountain. The guesthouse provides secure parking, DStv, and a laundry service. Breakfast is served in a refurbished stable with a rustic atmosphere and beautiful decor. A large wooden deck at the back of the house offers a magnificent view of the mountain. Off-street parking, a braai facility, and the availability of lunch boxes and dinner arrangements are also offered.

The town of Somerset East is surrounded by forested, mountainous backdrops, creating a dramatic setting with 16 waterfalls in sight. The Boschberg Nature Reserve, with its popular hiking trails, including a 15 km circular route to an overnight hut at the summit of the mountain, is located nearby. Somerset East is an excellent destination for birdwatching, trout fishing on five local dams, as well as rainbow and brown trout fishing in the Glen Avon Waterfall pools. The town features a 9-hole golf course, which is said to be one of the most beautiful in the country.

Annual events in Somerset East include the Castle Lager Biltong Festival held around July, the Caltex Bruintjieshoogte Cycle Tour and marathon run between Pearston and Somerset East during March, and the Spring Rose and Flower Show, known for producing some of the finest roses in the country. The Avondrust Guesthouse offers braai facilities and secure locked parking.
