Awelani Lodge

Awelani Lodge is situated 12 kilometres from the Pafuri Gate of the Kruger National Park on the R525 in Limpopo. It is a self-catering accommodation establishment that also features a campsite and an on-site restaurant and bar. The lodge is set on a 1,700-acre conservation area, offering visitors the opportunity to hike through a woodland conservation area or ride a mountain bike.

The area is home to various tree species, including the baobab, mahogany, lebombo, ironwood, mopane, rock face, and marula. Accommodation options at Awelani Lodge include six two-bedroom cabins, one chalet, five standard rooms, and eight safari tents. Each room has an en-suite bathroom or access to a shared bathroom and access to self-catering facilities.

The lodge offers amenities such as a restaurant with a bar serving basic meals, braai facilities, a swimming pool, selected DStv channels, Wi-Fi, and on-site parking. It also has a large venue for hosting events like conferences, weddings, and parties, with full catering, a bar, and function room services available. Guests can book a braai in a nearby cave in advance.

The lodge provides laundry services, but accommodation units are not self-catering. Cellphone and data communication is very poor and absent in some areas, and the lodge receives electricity from Eskom. Guests can explore the natural surroundings by walking and observing small animals, birds, magnificent baobab trees, and local Bushman drawings.

Awelani Lodge is conveniently located for day visitors to the northern part of the Kruger National Park, travelers crossing the border, and those visiting the northern regions of Limpopo. On the corridor between rooms, guests have access to a shared bathroom with a shower, basin, and separate toilet, as well as a shared kitchen equipped with cutlery, crockery, a stove with an oven, a microwave, and a fridge with a small freezer compartment. Additionally, there is a braai stand available.
