Situated in the central region of the Kruger National Park, Balule Rest Camp is a small satellite camp known for its basic facilities and lack of electricity, offering visitors a true wilderness experience. The camp's name is derived from the Tsonga word for the Olifants River, and it is located just south of the Olifants Camp.

Balule Rest Camp is surrounded by a low fence, allowing guests to be immersed in the natural environment while providing a barrier between them and the wildlife. The camp's unique wilderness feel makes it a popular choice among backpackers, caravanners, and visitors seeking a genuine back-to-basics experience.

The camp offers campsites with communal ablutions and cooking facilities, each campsite accommodating up to six guests. Visitors without power points are required to pay an additional rate for extra vehicles. It is important to note that the rates displayed are for two guests, and the actual rates are subject to the number of guests as well as children staying. Guests are advised to request the appropriate tariffs.

From September 1, 2017, all visitors over 18 years old are required to present a valid form of identification, such as an identity document, passport, or driver's license, upon entering or exiting the Kruger National Park. Additionally, the rates include a 1% Community Levy but exclude daily conservation fees, which must be paid directly to the camp upon arrival.
