Banhoek Corner Guesthouse

Banhoek Corner Guesthouse is an elegant family-owned establishment situated atop Helshoogte Pass in the Banhoek Valley, South Africa. Located just 8 km from Stellenbosch and 15 km from Franschhoek, this intimate guesthouse lies in the heart of the Cape Winelands, offering spectacular mountain views of the Simonsberg range.

The property features eleven tastefully designed rooms spread across two buildings. The historic Main House, reflecting traditional Cape Dutch architecture, houses seven rooms and showcases an eclectic collection of Western Cape antiques and artwork. A generous verandah beneath Jacaranda trees provides stunning mountain views. The adjacent four-bedroom Villa overlooks the house pool, gardens, and neighboring protea farm.

All rooms are equipped with modern amenities including spacious bathrooms, Smart TVs with Netflix, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and tea/coffee stations. Room configurations range from cozy Twin Classics with three-quarter beds to luxurious Double Deluxe rooms featuring private terraces, free-standing baths, and mountain views. The property operates on a solar-powered backup system, ensuring uninterrupted service during power outages.

The guesthouse, which opened in 2020, has deep roots in Stellenbosch history, being owned by a ninth-generation South African with extensive hospitality experience. Originally established in 1914 as a corner store, the Main House has evolved into a sophisticated accommodation option. The Villa was added in 1950, completing what is now a refined guesthouse experience.

Banhoek Valley itself has a rich history dating back to the late 1600s when Dutch farmers first established farms and vineyards in the area. Originally known as 'De Bange Hoek' (dangerous corner), the valley has transformed from a wilderness inhabited by lions and leopards to a prestigious wine-growing region featuring award-winning vineyards, destination restaurants, and extensive hiking and biking trails.
