Baobab Ridge Greater Kruger

Timbavati Reserve, Mpumalanga

Baobab Ridge Lodge is a private lodge located in the prestigious Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. It offers spacious air-conditioned individual private suites with an open plan lounge and private terrace, providing guests with beautiful bush-veld landscapes and an excellent possibility of encountering the "Big 5" and various bird species in their natural habitat. The lodge is fully catered and can be booked exclusively for up to 16 guests, making it ideal for groups seeking complete privacy with no age limits.

During the hot summer days, guests can relax in their cool air-conditioned private suites, on their private terraces, or on the pool deck overlooking the waterhole, with a view into the pristine African wilderness and the mountains beyond. The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (approximately 62,000 hectares) is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and is open to the Kruger National Park and Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The reserve lies along the western border of the Kruger, with no fencing separating it from the Kruger or the Timbavati, allowing animals to roam freely between the private game reserves and the Kruger Park.

The game in both the Kruger and the neighboring reserves is essentially the same, with the only difference being the experience of driving off-road in open game viewers with professional guides. The area is known worldwide as the area where white lions originated from, and they are born and live in the wild here, so the gene pool of the white lion is carried within the lions of this area. The less-known Klaserie Reserve also has fewer lodges, which means less traffic on game drives and better sighting opportunities.

The professionally trained guides who accompany guests on drives or walks are expert rangers and are in contact with other lodge vehicles, greatly increasing the chances of finding the desired wildlife. Some of the other game found in the area include giraffe, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, warthog, porcupine, African wild cat, honey badger, genets, bush babies, kudu, zebra, wild dog, cheetah, pangolin, aardvark, hyena, hippo, and more. Birding is quite spectacular, especially during the spring and summer when the migrant birds return to the area.

The lodge offers a family suite with two bedrooms for two adults and two children aged 6-11 years. Additionally, the air-conditioned cottage is situated on a raised deck with a private terrace and small garden. It features a king or twin bed, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, bath, two hand basins, a bidet, and a toilet, as well as a desk/dressing table with hairdryers and a private lounge area.
