Baviaans Lodge

Baviaans Lodge is a wilderness retreat situated in an indigenous tree-filled valley as it enters the Kouga mountains, which form part of the Baviaanskloof. It has been built from local natural stone in keeping with a traditional country lodge. The lodge offers comfortable accommodation in natural stone cottages, each with a fireplace for warmth during the winter months. The main lodge features a large fireplace, yellowwood beamed ceilings, and stunning natural stone and wood floors, providing a perfect place for guests to relax in the evenings.

Baviaans Lodge operates without electricity or cell phone reception, allowing guests to enjoy quiet evenings by candlelight and paraffin lamps. It also offers a stunning campsite for outdoor enthusiasts, which is more suitable for the summer months due to the cold winters in the Kouga mountains. Activities available include walks and hikes, river rafting, 4x4 trail adventures, nature experiences, bass fishing, outdoor boma and camping, game trail experiences, bushmen art trails, and cultural experiences.

The lodge provides freshly prepared country-style meals served from the farmhouse kitchen in the dining room. Guests can enjoy a glass of wine from the country pub and listen to stories and folk tales of the wilderness area and kloof that make a visit to the lodge special. The warm hospitality and friendly staff ensure that every moment of the stay is unique and memorable.

Baviaans Lodge also offers a stunning boutique wedding venue, accommodating up to 24 guests in a spectacular mountain lodge setting. It provides private stone cottages with fireplaces in the bedrooms, lending itself to a secluded and romantic honeymoon getaway from civilization, with dinners by candlelight. The lodge also offers guided nature walks and outings for children, introducing them to conservation at an early age.
