Bay Leaf Cottage is a two-bedroom house located in the suburb of Observatory. The house has two bedrooms, one furnished with a queen-size bed and the other with two single beds. The bathroom is shared and consists of a bathroom with a cast iron Victorian bath and an overhead shower, with an additional hot and cold outdoor shower available in the courtyard.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a stove, oven, microwave, tea and coffee facilities, a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, and a washing machine. Guests can dine at the dining table or relax in the cosy lounge, which is equipped with a TV with DStv, a DVD player, Wi-Fi internet, heaters, electric blankets for winter, and fans for summer.

The private courtyard features a barbecue area and is comfortably furnished with a table and chairs for outdoor dining. Secure parking behind a remote-controlled gate is provided for a small or medium-sized car. The cottage is situated close to the University of Cape Town, Groote Schuur Hospital, the Cape Town Science Centre, St Peter's Square & the Station Road shopping centres, and a few kilometres from Rhodes Memorial, Newlands rugby and cricket stadiums, the South African Astronomical Observatory, and the world-famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Various restaurants, pubs, shops, theatres, and clubs can be found on the popular Lower Main Road strip, and guests have quick and easy access to many tourist attractions in Cape Town.
