Bergplaas Guest House is located on the northern foothills of Soetanysberg in the Agulhas National Park, which is managed by SANParks. The original structure was a stock post on the farm Ruigtefontein in the 1860s, and the original house was built in the mid-1950s. In 1979/1980, the house was completely destroyed by fire and rebuilt in a more modern style that is still evident today. The land was acquired by SANParks in 2000, being the first acquisition for the newly established Agulhas National Park.

The guest house is situated 36km from the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, accessible via the Struisbaai / Elim road. The access road is a gravel road of approximately 26 kilometers, and while a 4x4 vehicle is not necessary, a high clearance vehicle is recommended, especially during the wet season (June to August). It is advisable to contact the park prior to booking to confirm road conditions. The travel time from the reception office to the farmstead is approximately one hour.

The guest house offers accommodation with two bedrooms, each with double beds, and two bedrooms, each with two single beds. There is also a loft bedroom with two single beds. The guest house has two en-suite bathrooms with WC and shower, and one bathroom with WC and shower (suited for mobility challenged). It features a fully equipped kitchen with a four-plate stove/oven, microwave, and fridge. There is a TV with limited channels. Smoking is not permitted. The facility is not situated near the sea.
