Bergsig Game Farm is a private game reserve owned by Kobus Crous Snr, who also owns Mossel Bay Helicopters. Located 7km outside Hartenbos on the Garden Route, halfway between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, this 3,000-hectare property encompasses diverse terrain including savannah, grass plains, thick bushveld, mountains, and valleys.
The reserve is home to some of the Big Five mammals, including Buffalo and Rhinoceros, along with more than 30 different animal species. Bird enthusiasts can observe over 100 indigenous bird species. The Hartenbos River flows through the property, and the Hartenbos Dam forms part of the farm, creating a serene natural environment.
The accommodation options include various self-catering units, all featuring en-suite bathrooms, living areas, fully equipped kitchens, and wooden decks with barbecue facilities. The units range from honeymoon suites to family houses, each offering unique views of the surrounding wilderness. All accommodations come equipped with DSTV and WiFi, and most units overlook the Hartenbos River.
Due to the farm's terrain, visitors are advised to use raised vehicles such as SUVs or 4x4s. The reserve implements a conservation fee policy to support natural and wildlife conservation, anti-poaching efforts, species protection, feeding programs, infrastructure maintenance, and land and water conservation initiatives.
The property offers various activities including game drives and helicopter scenic flights, allowing guests to fully experience the natural beauty and wildlife of the Garden Route region. The combination of coastal proximity and wilderness creates a unique environment where visitors can enjoy both fresh sea air and the tranquility of the African bush.
