Beverley Country Cottages is an award-winning accommodation establishment situated in the picturesque Dargle Valley of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, South Africa. The property, a working farm with historical significance dating back to 1847, when Irish settler Thomas Fannin first acquired the land, features the original stone farmstead built in 1913.
The establishment, run by Kate and Garry Kelly, has earned two National Lilizela Tourism Awards, recognizing their commitment to service excellence, creativity, and innovation. The property offers four self-catering cottages: The Hayloft, Dairy, Stables, and The Thatched House, along with two East Wing Rooms in the main house that operate on a dinner, bed, and breakfast basis.
Each cottage is comprehensively equipped with modern amenities including flat-screen TVs with Netflix, WiFi, fully fitted kitchens, and en-suite bathrooms. The accommodations feature both shower and bath facilities, with daily servicing included. During power outages, the cottages are equipped with rechargeable lamps, paraffin lamps, and gas cooking facilities. All units come with fireplaces for winter comfort, and guests receive complimentary firewood, fresh farm milk, and homemade cookies upon arrival.
The property is particularly family and pet-friendly, welcoming well-socialized dogs. Recreational facilities include a tennis court, walking trails, and bike riding opportunities. The working farm environment features Nguni cattle, horses, pigs, dogs, and fowls, adding to its authentic countryside atmosphere. The location serves as an ideal base for exploring the Midlands Meander, known for its artisanal crafts, picturesque landscapes, and prolific birdlife.
The establishment takes pride in its attention to detail and country hospitality, ensuring guests feel welcome and comfortable in this tranquil setting. The cottages can accommodate various group sizes, from romantic getaways for two to family gatherings of up to eight people, with some rooms featuring sleeper couches for additional children.
