Bibi's Joy

Bibi's Joy is a charming self-catering cottage situated in Suurbraak, Western Cape, positioned across the river with the Langeberg Mountains as its backdrop. Owned by Peter and Bibi Present, this secluded property offers an ideal setting for outdoor enthusiasts, providing opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, cross-country running, cycling, and seasonal water activities depending on river conditions.

The accommodation features two en-suite bedrooms with double beds, plus a third bathroom accessible from the lounge area. The cottage can accommodate additional guests with eight sleeping stretchers suitable for children. The spacious living area includes a fully furnished lounge with both a built-in and closed combustion fireplace, alongside a well-equipped kitchen featuring a Dover Stove, refrigerator, and full kitchen amenities. The property operates on solar power for lighting and has a geyser for hot water supply.

The tranquil garden setting includes a single carport and cooling misters for summer comfort. The outdoor space showcases indigenous plant species, ancient oak trees, and a firepit. The property is a haven for bird watching, with regular sightings of kingfishers, hoopoes, Cape robins, sugar birds, fiscal shrikes, and forktailed drongos. The rural atmosphere is enhanced by neighboring livestock, including goats, horses, and cattle.

Suurbraak itself is a picturesque town nestled at the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains near Swellendam. This small farming community is notable for hosting the annual DC 200 cycle race and provides a peaceful country retreat for visitors.
