Big Five Guest House

The Big Five Guest House is an accommodation establishment situated near the airport, restaurants, and shops in a central location. The accommodation comprises one Deluxe Room furnished with a queen-size bed, an en-suite bathroom, and a sleeper couch. Additionally, there are five Standard Rooms, each equipped with a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. All rooms are air-conditioned and feature built-in cupboards for extra closet space, as well as a TV with DStv.

Mthatha, founded in 1879, was originally the capital of the Transkei, which was the homeland of the Xhosa people during the Apartheid era. Transkei is now part of the Eastern Cape province, and Mthatha remains the center of the region. The city lies at the heart of the Nelson Mandela Route, established to provide structure for visitors interested in exploring the history of Nelson Mandela.

The Nelson Mandela Route begins in King Williams Town, where one can visit the grave of Steve Biko, the leader of the Black Consciousness movement. The route then proceeds through Bisho along the N2 to Umtata and the Nelson Mandela Museum, which opened 10 years after Mandela's release from prison. The museum is spread across three locations: Umtata, Qunu, and Mveso.
