Blue Cottages is nestled within a four-acre tropical garden, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Drakensberg escarpment. The property features six distinct cottages, with the main house being the original farm manager's cottage constructed in 1948 by Captain Drury on the Olifants River Estate. Historical London lampposts, imported by Drury himself, still line the approach road to the establishment.

Adjacent to the main farmhouse is the Monsoon Gallery & Mad Dogz Café, which are integral parts of the Blue Cottages complex. The location offers convenient access to the Blyde River Canyon route and various outdoor activities including rafting, hiking, bird watching, hot-air balloon rides, and game viewing drives, all of which can be arranged on request. The Kruger National Park's Phalaborwa and Orpen gates are accessible within an hour's drive.

The accommodation options include a thatched cottage featuring a double bed with en-suite shower and toilet, equipped with modern amenities such as air-conditioning, DSTV, Wi-Fi, and a bar fridge. Additional units include Quail 1 and Crane 2, both offering double beds with en-suite bathrooms, while Quail 2 provides two single beds with an en-suite bathroom. The Garden Double Cottage comes with a double bed and fully equipped kitchen, and the Weavers Nest family suite offers two separate bedrooms with a shared bathroom, ideal for families. Guests can enjoy meals either in their cottages or at the Mad Dogz Café, and have access to a communal swimming pool.
