Blue Crane Farm Lodge is situated on the slopes of the Houwhoek mountains along the Van Der Stel Pass, 6.4 km from Botrivier, South Africa. The secure property overlooks a dam and offers luxury self-catering accommodation in four well-appointed cottages named after local birds: Woodpecker, Suikerbekkie, Piet my Vrou, and Fish Eagle.
Each cottage accommodates up to four guests and features two bedrooms: a main bedroom with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, and a second bedroom with two single beds that can be converted to a king-size bed upon request. The cottages are equipped with modern amenities including a microwave, fridge, toaster, kitchen utensils, and gas stove. Additional features include an indoor braai/fireplace, pizza oven, and a wood-fired hot tub.
A unique touch is the daily delivery of fresh farm milk and freshly baked bread through a serving hatch located next to each cottage's kitchen door. The property, owned by bird enthusiast Bennie Engelke, offers guests access to numerous local attractions and activities including hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, quad biking, zip lining, shark cage diving, and whale watching. The area is also home to several renowned wine estates and restaurants.
The Fish Eagle Cottage, positioned near the water's edge, serves as the property's flagship accommodation, while the other cottages are strategically placed to offer various vantage points of the surrounding landscape. Massage treatments are available in-cottage, and the location provides easy access to markets and other attractions in the broader Hermanus area.
