Bluegum Cottage @ The Garlic House is a large modern cottage suitable for singles, couples, and families up to six people. It offers good quality beds and linens, electric blankets, free WiFi, DSTV, a full bathroom, kitchen/lounge, and dining area, providing everything needed for a comfortable overnight stay. The cottage is the new guest wing of the Garlic House, a beautiful 18th-century building and home of the owner/artist Kitty Schneider.

Set in a large private property with ample secure off-street parking, it is situated in the quiet and peaceful area of Smithfield, away from the sounds of traffic on the N6 that passes through town. The privacy, peace, and quiet ensure a good night's sleep. There are three rooms: two bedrooms with queen-size beds and another large room with the kitchen/dining/lounge area and two single beds. One bedroom is upstairs with a large balcony offering views around Smithfield and the "mountain".

Large windows provide plenty of natural light and views into the farm-like garden. The owner, Kitty Schneider, was a jewelry artist whose quirky sense of decor has made the cottage unusual and unique. Hand-made steps with pieces of broken plates and mirrors, the shower floor made from pebbles collected at the beach, and the hand-forged burglar bars in the shapes of birds, fish, cats, and flowers are examples of the attention to detail used to create this space. The cottage is also spacious, simple, and uncluttered.

Three dogs and four cats reside on the property, so pets are only allowed with prior arrangement. There is plenty of space in the garden for children to run around. Excellent 3G cell phone coverage and free WiFi are available. The owner can also prepare dinner for guests with prior arrangement. Cereals, tea, and coffee are included in the accommodation price.

The cottage is very private and has a beautiful upstairs bedroom with a balcony offering a great view, making it ideal for a honeymoon night. At night, the stars are spectacular. The cottage sleeps up to six people and is situated in a large garden, providing privacy as the only guests. Children can play outside or watch TV or DVDs that the owner can lend them.

The guest unit is situated off the side of the main house with its own private entrance. This unit sleeps up to six guests and has two bedrooms plus a large lounge/dining room with two single beds. There is a queen-size bed upstairs and an extra-length queen-size bed downstairs. There is a full bathroom on the ground floor. The modern yet quirky bathroom has an open shower and a bath. Large windows allow plenty of light and air into all rooms.

The newly renovated lounge/kitchenette provides comfortable self-catering facilities and also has two single beds for larger families. There is a large uncovered balcony attached to the upstairs room. Parking is on the property and large enough for any size vehicle with a trailer and is very safe. A cereal breakfast is included in the price per person per night. A new addition is free WiFi.
