Blyde River Wilderness Lodge is an idyllic retreat situated along the renowned Panoramic Route of Blyde River Canyon near Hoedspruit, less than an hour's drive from the Kruger National Park's Orpen Gate. The thatched lodge, positioned on the banks of the peaceful Blyde River, showcases contemporary African decor that harmoniously blends with its garden setting, shaded by magnificent Jackelberry and Fig trees.
The accommodation options include beautifully appointed rooms featuring en-suite bathrooms, tea facilities, and mini-bars. The lodge offers scrumptious included breakfasts and optional three-course candlelit dinners under the stars. During cooler evenings, guests can gather around a traditional African boma with a warming wood fire.
Located on a private game reserve, the property offers various activities and amenities, including poolside sundowners and lawn picnics. Guests can observe diverse wildlife from their rooms, including hippos and crocodiles in the river, while Nyala graze freely on the grounds. Bush walks provide opportunities to encounter various animals such as Giraffe, Zebra, Ostrich, Wildebeest, and multiple antelope species. The area's rich flora attracts numerous bird species, making it an ideal destination for bird watching enthusiasts.
The accommodation comprises six double/twin rooms with en-suites, a large self-catering Rondavel sleeping up to seven people, the Kimba House (a private self-catering facility with two en-suite bedrooms sleeping four), and a self-catering kingfisher cottage for two to three people. The Kimba House, situated 150 meters from the main reception and dining area, features a private garden, rock pool, and braai/BBQ facilities. The lodge is also suitable for small weddings and conferences, with power backup systems in place for any outages.
