Boschfontein Mountain Lodge is a double-storey sandstone lodge located on Boschfontein Farm, 18 kilometers from Ficksburg, on the Ficksburg-Fouriesburg road. It is built on the side of the Joala Boholo Mountain and offers spectacular views of the farm and the Maluti Mountains. The self-catering lodge can accommodate up to 18 people across four units that sleep between four to five people each.

Each unit has two bedrooms (one downstairs, one upstairs) and a bathroom. The downstairs bedroom features a queen-size bed, fireplace, chairs, and an en-suite bathroom. The upstairs bedrooms have two or three 3/4 beds, depending on the unit. Linen and towels are provided. The shared living areas include the kitchen, braai areas, bar, lounge, and verandas. These areas and the units are cleaned daily, and wood is provided for the fireplaces and braai areas.

The lodge was constructed using local, hand-dressed sandstone, and the wood for the ceiling and some furniture was sourced from alien invasive trees on the farm. It operates off-the-grid, with water supplied directly from a mountain spring and solar power for the fridge, lights, and two plug points for charging cell phones. Gas geysers heat the water in the bathrooms and kitchen.

Boschfontein Farm is a working sheep, cattle, and game farm bordering Lesotho. It also has a 100-year-old cherry orchard that produces the Early Red variety of cherries. Activities on the farm include mountain trails and river walks, game drives, fishing, target shooting, clay pigeon shooting, black powder shooting, cherry liqueur tasting, and a tour of the Pinedene Small Arms Museum.

The farm has established routes for walking, running, hiking, and mountain biking. A 140ha game camp is stocked with various animals, including waterbuck, springbuck, impala, black wildebeest, zebra, blesbuck, ostriches, eland, and red hartebeest. Game viewing is primarily done in a Series II Land Rover. The farm hosts annual clay pigeon shooting and long-distance gong shooting competitions, with the shooting ranges available for use at other times.

There is a 3.5-kilometer gravel road from the tar road to the lodge, and low clearance vehicles may struggle to access it.
