Buffelshoek Dirosie Game Lodge

Buffelshoek Dirosie Game Lodge is a farm located about 19 kilometers outside the town of Cradock. The farm has unique wildlife and a rich history. The name "Buffelshoek" means "buffalo's corner" when translated directly from Afrikaans. It is surrounded by a mountain range that is part of the same formation as the nearby Mountain Zebra National Park to the northwest.

The owners of the farm, Dirk and Rosie Visser, are well-known individuals in the Cradock district. The lodge's name, "Buffelshoek Dirosie," is a combination of the owners' first names, Dirk and Rosie, which translates to "The small Rose." Dirk Visser is involved in the Cradock Seed "Wil jy Saai" business.

The farm-stay style lodge caters to a variety of visitors, including day travelers, business professionals seeking a conference venue, nature enthusiasts, and couples seeking a wedding venue surrounded by the beauty of the mountains. The farm has a rich and unique history that is studied by local and international historians. It is also the final resting place of the well-known and influential writer Olive Schreiner, whose grave site is situated high up in the mountains and required a year and a half to construct a road to access it.

Buffelshoek Dirosie Lodge offers various accommodation options, including self-catering chalets that sleep up to four guests and provide a "home away from home" feeling with privacy and beautiful views. The Big Game units consist of six guest rooms, five of which can accommodate up to three guests, and one that can accommodate up to eight guests. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers, and some units have microwaves, fridges, and braai stands upon request.

The lodge also features amenities such as a chapel, garden for weddings, a venue, kitchen and catering facilities, a licensed premises, a reception area, game drives, and visits to Olive Schreiner's grave.
