Caracal Lodge is situated on a 300-hectare game farm in Mpumalanga's Houtboshoek valley, positioned 48 kilometers from Nelspruit and 100 kilometers from the Kruger National Park. The property features eight distinct accommodation options, ranging from intimate bush cottages to a spacious farmhouse.
The accommodation includes two off-grid bush cottages, Figtree Lodge and Magtree Lodge, which operate on gas and lamplight, offering a authentic bush experience for couples. Additionally, there are six electrified options: Kudu, Nyala, Stone Circle, Impala, and Bushbuck Cottages, plus a large farmhouse. Each unit is fully equipped for self-catering, with varying capacities from two to twenty-eight guests.
The lodge is nestled in a scenic valley offering panoramic views of grassy mountains, home to diverse wildlife including mountain reedbuck, grey rhebuck, oribi, and bushbuck. The property hosts introduced game species such as impala, Livingstone eland, zebra, waterbuck, nyala, kudu, blue wildebeest, and giraffe, with the elusive red duiker occasionally visible near the bush lodges.
Guests can explore the property through hiking trails or 4x4 drives, enjoying the valley's natural beauty and wildlife viewing opportunities. A mountain stream runs through the property, creating a spectacular waterfall that provides an ideal setting for picnics, sundowners, or swimming in the forest-shaded pools.
