Cederkloof Botanical Retreat

Cederkloof Botanical Retreat is a serene escape nestled in the Olifants River Valley at the foot of the Cederberg Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located 8 kilometers from Citrusdal in the Western Cape of South Africa, the retreat is situated on a working farm offering spectacular views of natural rock formations and diverse fynbos vegetation.

The property features ten self-catering accommodation units, comprising six bachelor-style cottages and four two-bedroom chalets. Each unit is equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning, television, and a well-appointed kitchenette. A standout feature is the private jacuzzi on each veranda, fed by natural spring water, offering breathtaking valley views. All units feature both indoor and outdoor fireplaces, and king-size beds (which can be converted to singles in select units).

The main building, known as the Opstal, serves as both accommodation and an event venue. It includes five bedrooms accommodating up to ten guests, a full industrial chef's kitchen, wood-fire pizza oven, and shared swimming pool. The property also offers luxury forest tents as additional accommodation, situated among indigenous trees and rock outcroppings.

Activities available at and around the retreat include hiking along a 4-kilometer trail, mountain biking, horse riding, and exploring the rich biodiversity of over 850 fynbos species and abundant birdlife. The retreat caters to various occasions including weddings, corporate retreats, wellness gatherings, and family celebrations. During power outages, a generator operates between 8am and 10pm for regular bookings, with extended hours for exclusive venue bookings.

While not all units have reliable cell phone signal or Wi-Fi, free unlimited Wi-Fi is available at the central building. The retreat is pet-friendly and provides an ideal setting for both solo travelers seeking solitude and groups celebrating special occasions.
