Copperleigh Trout Cottages is nestled in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal's Midlands, South Africa, approximately 30km from Howick and 22km from Boston. The property overlooks the serene Mavela Dam, which spans 10 hectares and is stocked annually with trout by the Natal Fly Fishers Club.

The establishment offers two distinct self-catering accommodations. The Family Lodge is a double-storey structure featuring three upstairs bedrooms, two bathrooms with showers, and an open-plan ground floor comprising a lounge, kitchen, and dining area. The lodge can accommodate up to nine guests and includes amenities such as WiFi, DSTV Premium, and daily housekeeping services. The Romantic Log Cabin, designed for couples, provides a one-bedroom retreat with an en-suite bathroom, open-plan living area, and a spacious verandah offering panoramic dam views. The cabin is equipped with WiFi and Android TV with streaming services.

As a working sheep and cattle farm, Copperleigh offers unique experiences for guests, including interaction with farm animals and seasonal opportunities to engage with baby lambs or goats. The property is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring activities such as fly fishing (with no additional rod or catch fees), swimming, kayaking, and scenic walks. The nearby iNhlosane Mountain, just a five-minute drive away, provides excellent hiking opportunities.

The location is particularly notable for wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers, with over 250 species recorded, including the African Fish Eagle, rare Wattled Crane, Grey Crowned Crane, and various aquatic birds. Visitors may also encounter wildlife such as Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Duiker, Serval, and Otter. The establishment is pet-friendly, welcoming small dogs by prior arrangement, though the units are not completely fenced.
