Cuckoo Ridge Country Retreat

Cuckoo Ridge Country Retreat is situated in the heart of an indigenous forest, offering a tranquil setting overlooking a valley of lush greenery and adjacent fruit farms. An all-weather concrete access road winds its way through an indigenous landscape, where occasional sightings of Red Duiker, Bush Buck, vervet monkeys, and bands of mongoose can be witnessed.

The retreat provides an oasis of lawn and selected trees, where guests can relax in the sun by the rock pool or in the shade of the boma with a book from the on-site library. Each chalet features a private covered veranda with views over the Majajekulo river valley. Guests can enjoy braai (barbeque) under the stars, listening to the sounds of the African night, and on quiet nights, the sound of running water from the Majajekulo river can be heard between the cries of the Bush babies as they go about their nocturnal lives.

Cuckoo Ridge Country Retreat offers five chalets, each with its own unique character. Guests have the option of either bed and breakfast chalets or self-catering chalets. Each bed and breakfast chalet is equipped with either a king- or queen-size bed, an en-suite bathroom, and a private lounge. The self-catering chalets feature fully equipped kitchens, open-plan lounge and dining areas, TVs with selected DSTV channels, air-conditioning in the bedrooms, ceiling fans in the lounges, hairdryers, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. All linen and towels are provided, along with gowns, cutlery, and crockery. Guests have access to free WI-FI and covered parking.

Cuckoo Ridge Country Retreat is located approximately 26 km from the Kruger National Park, entering through Phabeni Gate, and is approximately 3 km from the Sabie River Adventure Centre, which offers river rafting, quad biking, horseback riding, and other activities.

One of the luxury self-catering chalets can accommodate two guests on a queen-size bed and features an en-suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower. This unit contains a TV with DStv, air-conditioning, a kitchen for self-catering, a hairdryer, and free Wi-Fi access.
