Days At Sea Beach Lodge is an exclusive five-star property located in Trafalgar, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, near Durban. This intimate luxury hotel, designed by German photographer Dr. Guido Schoeldgen and his fashion designer wife Annette, features just four suites and showcases their European influence through clear-cut lines, artistic photographs, and sculptures with accompanying texts.
The beachfront property offers direct access to the Indian Ocean and features individually designed suites decorated in aqua blue tones. Each suite is equipped with modern amenities including king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, multichoice TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, espresso machines, minibars, and safes. A spacious illuminated pool overlooks the ocean, while the bistro and lounge area above features projected images and diverse musical selections from Pavarotti to Cafe Del Mar.
The lodge has garnered numerous accolades, including recognition as one of the world's 100 most beautiful hideaway hotels in Hideaways Hotels Klocke (2009-2011), and Lilizela Awards from the SA Tourism Board (2016-2017) as KZN's best 5-star Country House. It boasts a platinum-awarded wine cellar by Diners International and has received high praise from British Airways Horizon Magazine.
The property is ideally situated near three world-class golf courses - Wildcoast, San Lameer, and Southbroom - with several game reserves hosting the "big five" within driving distance. The lodge includes a Beauty and Massage Hut featuring Chopin music and a unique ceiling painting by Christopher Lorenz. As an adult-oriented establishment, the lodge does not accommodate children under 14 years of age. It serves as a perfect venue for intimate weddings of up to 30 guests and caters to nature lovers, culinary enthusiasts, and wine connoisseurs seeking a refined escape.
