De Kelders Beach House

The De Kelders Beach House is a second home located near the ocean in De Kelders, about 30 km beyond Hermanus. It features a historic coastal footpath between the property and the water, providing unobstructed views of Walker Bay. The house has four double bedrooms, built-in benches in the living room that can accommodate additional guests, and three full bathrooms, along with a guest bathroom. The living area is open-plan and includes a kitchen and dining area, all with spectacular views of Walker Bay.

The beach house is situated near Stanfords Cove, a protected beach and grassed picnic area that is a 5-minute walk along the coastal footpath. The property also has a double garage and additional off-street parking for 2 or 3 cars. De Kelders is known for great white shark cage diving and is considered an excellent spot for watching southern right whales, which come to calve and mate in Walker Bay between August and November.

The beach house is an hour and a half drive from Cape Town and is conveniently located for travelers heading up the East coast along the Garden Route. The property features upmarket finishes and amenities such as a dishwasher, washing machine, a 42-inch flat screen with a DVD collection, and WiFi with access to streaming services like Netflix and Showmax. The nearby town of Gansbaai, 3 km away, offers supermarkets, medical facilities, petrol stations, and a tourist office that can arrange activities like kayak tours, whale watching trips, and shark cage diving expeditions.

The owners describe the beach house as a special place where the sound of the ocean lulls guests to sleep. It is their "seat of the soul," where they come to sunbathe and barbecue in the summer months (September to April) and cozy up in front of the wood-burning fireplace with local wine during the winter. The open-plan living area is perfect for board games, conversation, and relaxation.
