Elke's Guesthouse

Elke's Guesthouse is a spacious self-catering house located on the northern edge of Nieu Bethesda. It offers great views of the Kompasberg and surrounding Sneeuberg Mountains from the bedrooms, lounge area, and garden. The guesthouse is wheelchair-friendly.

Elke's Guesthouse features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a well-equipped open-plan kitchen, a dining area, a lounge area with a fireplace, and a large garden with braai facilities. It can accommodate up to seven guests comfortably, and pets are welcome by arrangement.

Nieu Bethesda is a village where life potters along much as it did 130 years ago when it was founded. Stone water furrows still line the wide, dusty streets, and the night sky is unpolluted by streetlights, allowing for a clear view of the fresh and clean air.

The village has a working network of furrows, with water supplied daily from a spring on the plateau above. Residents channel water into their gardens using smaller gated funnels. Visitors can hike along the furrows up to the spring or prearrange a hike up Kompasberg mountain or through the Canyon on one of the surrounding farms.

The area around Nieu-Bethesda is suitable for both leisurely and challenging mountain biking rides. Visitors can wake up early to conquer one of the two mountain bike trails in the area or take a leisurely walk around the village to explore galleries, bookshops, and eateries.
