Hartswater, Northern Cape
from
$45
Avg per night for 2 guests

The Fairview Guest House is located in the small town of Hartswater, one of the two main towns in the Vaalharts Valley, an oasis on the edge of the arid Northern Cape border with North West. The accommodation at Fairview Guest House is provided in a range of categories, all of which are tastefully decorated and furnished with either queen-size or double beds. Each room features an en-suite bathroom, a TV with selected DStv channels, air-conditioning, and tea and coffee making facilities.

Guests can make use of the swimming pool with loungers and outdoor seating. Additionally, there are table tennis and a pool table available for recreation. Local wines are produced at Hartswater Wine Cellar under the Overvaal and Elements labels, where visitors can participate in wine tasting and purchase bottles of their Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, or Ruby Cabernet.

One of the main attractions in Hartswater is the Women's memorial at the entrance to the town. This tiny brick church features beautiful stained glass windows and a powerful sculpted relief on the wall, celebrating the role of women in society. It was built in recognition of the role women played during the Great Depression, which is particularly relevant in the valley as the Vaalharts Valley irrigation scheme was constructed during that time to create opportunities for farms in the area.
