A Far Away Place is a gay-owned establishment that offers self-catering cottages with scenic views of a dam and the Karkloof Mountains. It is situated adjacent to a large pine forest. The establishment provides two cottages: DASHY Cottage and NGUNI Cottage, both offering picturesque mountain views. The cottages feature hammock chairs on the patios, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the tranquil natural surroundings.

DASHY Cottage can accommodate up to five guests and comprises two bedrooms (one being a loft room), one bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The main bedroom contains a queen XL bed, while the second loft-style bedroom has a double and a single bed, all furnished with 600 thread count Egyptian Cotton linen. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The cottage also offers a fireplace and gas heaters for warmth.

NGUNI Cottage is a luxury six-sleeper unit with a main bedroom featuring an en-suite shower and toilet, an outdoor shower with hot and cold water, and another bedroom upstairs. Both bedrooms have queen XL beds with 600 thread count Egyptian Cotton linen. There is a shared bathroom upstairs and an additional two 3/4 beds on the mezzanine floor.

Both cottages have fully equipped kitchens for self-catering, including a gas stove, fridge freezer, convection microwave, kettle, toaster, and necessary cutlery and crockery. The lounges are furnished with comfortable suites and large wall-mounted flat-screen 4K TVs, which are smart TVs without DStv or satellite dish. However, guests can bring their own content or use the provided Netflix account.

The open-plan living areas of NGUNI and DASHY open onto stunning patio areas with outdoor furniture for guests to enjoy. Both cottages offer breathtaking views of the Karkloof valley, which explains the name "Far Away Place" as it provides a sense of seclusion while being located in the heart of the Midlands. Guests can engage in hikes, walks, explore the dams and forest, and enjoy the scenic views.

The establishment is conveniently located 5 km from Terbodore Coffee on Old Curry's Post Road and a short 12 km drive from Nottingham Road. It is situated in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Meander, with recommendations for places to visit and dine provided in the cottages.

Additionally, A Far Away Place now offers its own airfield, effective from September 2020, with runways 01 and 19. Aviators seeking interesting destinations are welcome to visit, and a signed indemnity is required by pilots and passengers before landing.

A Far Away Place was born from the dream of two young men who aspired to revisit their childhood by building a luxury treehouse-inspired accommodation with a view of the mountains and forests.
