Fountain Baths Guest House

The Fountain Baths Guest House is situated at the base of the Mkonjwa Mountain Range in the mining town of Barberton. Originally constructed in 1884 as a bathhouse for gold diggers in the area, it features the oldest swimming pool in the former Transvaal region. Presently, the Fountain Baths Guest House serves as a retreat for travelers exploring the historically rich part of South Africa.

The guest house is conveniently located within walking distance from the town center. Its garden extends to the foot of the mountain, surrounded by majestic trees and lush vegetation, making it an ideal destination for birdwatchers. Vervet monkeys, samango monkeys, baboons, and giant bush babies are frequent visitors to the garden. Part of the oldest rock formation in the world can be found on the premises of the Fountain Baths Guest House.

For inquisitive and energetic guests, the guest house offers a range of activities, including mine tours, gold panning, a heritage walk, quad bike drives into the mountains, horse riding, guided tours for birdwatchers, hiking, 4x4 trips, and access to good restaurants in the area.
