Franshoek Farm And Polo School

The Franshoek Farm and Polo School is situated in a picturesque valley, where a beautiful sandstone cottage is strategically positioned on the edge of a hillside overlooking the polo field. The property features a converted stable called The Stables, which has two bedrooms and a kitchen for self-catering. Opposite the cottage, there is a superb braai area with firewood provided. An extra out building, known as the Salt Room, is located behind The Stables and can accommodate an additional single person or older children joining the group. The complex is rented as a single unit.

The farm features natural mountain dams where guests can swim or relax and enjoy the sun. Excellent polo tuition and mountain horse rides can be arranged during a stay. With an area of 1,500 hectares, the farm is home to an abundance of flora, fauna, and wild animals for guests to enjoy. There are plenty of great places to hike and walk.

The establishment has a herd of 50 thoroughbred polo ponies and offers horse rides upon arrangement. Additionally, there is a cave and a waterfall on the farm, as well as many lovely walking trails through the mountains. The Stables is a lovely thatched self-catering cottage built on the foundation of the old horse stables, hence its name. It is situated on a ridge overlooking the polo grounds and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding valley and setting sun. The self-catering unit consists of two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. Each room can accommodate children under 12 on a mattress on the floor, with a maximum capacity of two adults sharing plus one or two small children on the floor mattress. The two bedrooms adjoin the kitchen-lounge area, which has concertina doors that open onto the dining veranda, giving the kitchen a lovely outdoor feel. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, pots, pans, dishes, and a multitude of cooking utensils. A lovely braai is situated on the lawn in front of the unit, and firewood is included. The Salt Room is a separate cottage located behind The Stables, with a queen bed and a shower, suitable for accommodating one or two people comfortably.
